Biography

In 1995, Mario was born in Omaha, NE. Where he attended Harry A. Burke High School. Through hard work and determination, he was able to become a recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholarship. The scholarship funded his studies at both the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and San Diego State University. Both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees are in civil engineering. In both his undergraduate and graduate studies, he chose to specialize in water resources.

From a young age, Mario was interested in science, nature, history, and politics. Later in life, these interests motivated him to become a civil engineer. His interest in water resources was originally spurred, by the tales his grandfather would tell him while he worked the land in rural Guanajuato. These tales often featured rains, droughts, the arroyo, and a Mexico that no longer existed.

Today Mario resides in Chula Vista, CA. Where he moved in order to complete his M.S. at SDSU. He was previously located in Corpus Christi, TX. Where he relocated to immediately after obtaining his B.S. from UNL. In Corpus Christi he worked for LNV, Inc as an EIT.
